Apple Announces Best of 2018

Apple offers awards galore to content available for consumption on its hardware platforms.

(CCM) — Apple has unveiled the nearest thing it has to awards for apps and games, movies, TV shows, and music, with the physics-based puzzle game Donut County walking off with the title of iPhone Game of the Year. Procreate Pocket, a sketching and illustrating app, won the title of iPhone App of the Year.

On the iPad, AR title Froggipedia won App of the Year, while point-and-click puzzler Gorogoa took the Game of the Year honors. The Mac App and Game of the Year awards were won by image editor Pixelmator Pro and single-player adventure game The Gardens Between, respectively.

Thanks to the astonishing success of Fortnite and PUBG Mobile, Apple decided to award the Game Trend of the Year to Battle Royale-style gaming, while the App Trend of the Year went to Self-care.

In keeping with the company's keen interest in health and fitness, the Apple TV App of the Year award was given to workout app Sweat, while Alto's Odyssey captured the Apple TV Game of the Year prize.

Turning to music, Artist of the Year was awarded to Drake, while Juice WRLD was awarded the Breakout Artist of the Year title.

Apple also highlighted numerous movies and TV shows, including A Star is Born, Crazy Rich Asians, The Handmaid's Tale, and Killing Eve.
