Initial story on the killing of some Kogi state poly student was first reported on
Update reaching our newsdesk this morning reveals that Students of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja have blocked the Lokoja-Abuja highway following a fatal accident involving a Dangote truck.

A promising Nigerian student and other individuals have lost their lives in an ill-fated road mishap which took place in the confluence state of Kogi.
An accident involving an articulated truck at Nataco junction, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway on Wednesday morning killed a student of the nearby Kogi State Polytechnic and five others.
The tension that descended on the area spread to the International Market, as students protesting the death of their colleague in the accident went on rampage.
They destroyed a traffic light and the GYB billboard mounted at the road intersection. A detachment of policemen that came to the scene were forced to make a retreat, having exhausted the teargas canisters they brought to the scene.
Some of the concerned residents of the area however criticised the policemen, saying “in such situation they shouldn’t have used teargas on the angry youths.”
The cement-carrying truck reportedly ran into a tricycle (Keke NAPEP), killing the student and others, including the three school pupils.
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the truck which was coming from Obajana and heading northwards, lost control around the polytechnic gate and rammed into the victim’s.
A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official confirmed the development, saying situation at the scene of the accident was still “tense.”

About five people have reportedly died in resulting multiple accidents. A student of the polytechnic is one of the casualties. There is serious tension now at international market, along Lokoja-Abuja highway.
The traffic light at the junction is has been vandalized by the angry youths. Police officers have since arrived at the scene and they fired tear gas to disperse the protesters but had to retreat when they exhausted the teargas they came with.
As at the time of filing this report, a reinforcement of anti-riot policemen were on their way to the area now.
