Police promote Mbu, 18 others to AIGS

The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday approved the elevation of 19 Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspector-Generals of Police (AIGs).
Those promoted were: Mr Joseph Mbu, FCT Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Aisibor, Adebayo Ajileye, Umaru Manko, Joel Theophilus, Wilfred Obute, Felix Uyanna, A. J. Abakasanga, Jubril Adeniji, and Ibrahim Maishanu.
The others were: Godfrey Okeke, Chintua Amajor-Onu, Lawal Tanko, Usman Gwarry, Kalafite Adeyemi, Yahaya Ardo, Irimiya Yerima, Olufemi Adenaike and Patrick Dokumor.
A statement issued in Abuja by Mr Ferdinand Ekpe, the commission’s spokesman, said that the promotions were with effect from Aug. 20.
The statement said the promotions became necessary in order to fill vacancies created by recent retirements and promotions in the Force.
It also said that it was done to reposition zonal and other commands headed by AIGs to tackle the current security challenges in the country.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday the commission elevated six AIGs and two CPs to DIGs.
The commission had named the DIGs as Dan’Azumi Doma, Mamman Tsafe, David Omojola, Solomon Arase, Christopher Katso and Salihu Hashidu.
The two commissioners who were promoted to DIGs were Hilary Opara and Sotonye Wakama.
