Amaechi Urges Youths To Vote Out Corrupt Leaders

Rivers State governor, and chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has urged youths of the state to be ready to reclaim the state from the hands of those he described as ‘thieves’ come 2015. Amaechi, who made the call recently during interactive session with youths in the state at Government House, Port Harcourt, particularly urged them to register for the All Progressives Congress (APC) which required 1.5 million voters strength to take over power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The governor recalled that the current impunity suffered by the state government was likened to the one that took place during the military administration, adding that the state loses N7billion monthly out of its earlier N20 billion allocation and stressed the need for concerted efforts for the fight against impunity. He stated that his administration has completed and furnished 300 primary schools in the state and was in the process of completing another 200 to make it 500 out of the 750 schools embarked upon by the state government. According to Amaechi, in the health sector, 150 health centres have been completed and put to use assuring that the Rivers monorail project will be completed before the end of the present administration, saying, “You will see me board the monorail before I leave office.”The governor said Rivers would generate about 750 mega watts of electricity. to ensure steady power supply in the State, noting that it will be done in various zones starting from Trans-Amadi, Borikiri, Diobu, GRA, and D-Line axis of the state.
