Abuja Explosions, Nigerian military arrests foreigners near Nyanya
The Nigerian military on Saturday said it has arrested some foreigners in Abuja for alleged involvement in terrorism.
The Director Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said the foreigners who are among eight people arrested in Kugbo area of Abuja are being interrogated.
He said the foreigners were picked up around Kugbo and areas adjoining the Nyanya site of the recent bombings in the Federal Capital Territory.
About 100 people were killed in two separate bomb blasts within three weeks in Nyanya.
Mr. Olukolade, a Major General, said the interrogation of the suspects commenced after a raid operation by troops on joint surveillance and patrols mission in Abuja.
He said that the arrested persons are helping with useful information and that the operation was sequel to intelligence reports.
He said those confirmed to constitute threat to security will be handed over to appropriate prosecutorial agency on conclusion of the preliminary investigations.
