Police Arrest 18 Political Thugs
The police in Kwara State have arrested 18 suspected political thugs in Ilorin, the state capital over their alleged involvement in the crises that rocked both the ward and local government congresses of the two dominant political parties in the state.
Briefing newsmen in Ilorin yesterday, the state police commissioner, Mr. Ambrose Aisabor, said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
Aisabor who said his men had begun full investigations into the role played by each of the suspects during the congresses, warned politicians in the state to call their supporters to order, warning that the police command would not allow any act of thuggery in the name of politics in the state.
The police boss further counselled politicians to play the game by the rules, saying the police command was determined to ensure peaceful conduct in party politics in the state.
In a similar development, the state police command had a hectic time controlling the violence caused by hoodlums at Agaka and Adabata areas of Ilorin metropolis yesterday.
